Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Fenix) has won the 60^th edition of Eschborn-Frankfurt. On his debut in the German Classic, the 23-year-old Belgian relegated local hero and 2011 winner, John Degenkolb (Lotto Soudal), and record winner Alexander Kristoff (UAE Team Emirates) to the podium places. After 187.4 kilometers the youngster secured his first victory in a WorldTour classic and set the next exclamation mark in his outstanding season. Pascal Ackermann (Bora-hansgrohe), the last winner in Frankfurt, sprinted to 5^th place.

Jasper Philipsen after his victory: "It was a really hard race. A few weeks ago, I decided that I wanted to do this race because it's typically a sprint finish. Then I looked into the profile and thought it might be harder than expected. So now I'm super proud with this victory. The team support was key today because I was really struggling in the middle part. On the climbs the team just stayed with me and that was important. I kept pushing because I knew that the last 40km were flat. I was able to recover and could do my sprint."

A top-class anniversary is looming on the eve of the 60^th edition of the German classic. For the first time, 13 teams from the WorldTour will start at Eschborn-Frankfurt. Exactly one week before the UCI Road World Championships, many top stars use the Taunus for a final test. For other riders, the WorldTour event is a milestone on the way to the upcoming classics like Paris-Roubaix.

187.4 kilometers with more than 3,200 meters of altitude are on the program tomorrow between Eschborn and the city center of Frankfurt. The start list has seldom promised such an open race as this year. Will the iconic Taunus circuit with the notorious Mammolshainer climb lead to a selection or will the peloton be able to neutralize all attacks for a sprint royal at the Frankfurt Opera house?

On 19 September, Eschborn-Frankfurt celebrates its 60^th anniversary edition and is looking forward to top-class "guests". Because there is a record for the birthday: for the first time 13 teams from the WorldTour will start at the German Classic. Together with the teams of the first category, 7 ProTeams will be at the start in Eschborn to crown this year's winner of Eschborn-Frankfurt in front of the Old Opera House in Frankfurt.

The two German teams BORA - hansgrohe and Team DSM want to make the most of the home race, as does UAE-Team Emirates around Frankfurt's serial winner Alexander Kristoff. Team Lotto Soudal of local hero John Degenkolb has also announced its participation in the Taunus classic. As many as 16 of the 20 cycling classic teams have contested the Tour de France this year. The best team of Le Tour, Bahrain Victorious, is there as well as Jumbo-Visma. The Dutch team last competed in Eschborn-Frankfurt in 2014.

Together with the cities of Eschborn and Frankfurt am Main, the Gesellschaft zur Förderung des Radsports has decided to postpone the anniversary editions of the UCI WorldTour race Eschborn-Frankfurt and the sportive event ŠKODA Velotour to September 19, 2021.

Despite all confidence and an adapted event concept, the implementation on the traditional date, May 1^st, cannot be guaranteed. Six weeks ahead of the event, reliable planning is challenging, because major events are still prohibited in Germany due to the pandemic. The new date of the event, September 19^th, was determined together with the host cities of Eschborn and Frankfurt am Main. The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) today also confirmed this postponement date.
